Catholic university to test record for ‘living rosary’
The University of Santo Tomas (UST) in Manila, a 400-year-old Dominican university, will attempt to break a world record by forming the biggest “living rosary.” Organizers of the event said the activity is a “grand thanksgiving” to the Our Lady of the Rosary for the university’s long history. About 20,000 people, including students, alumni, faculty members and administrative staff, are expected to join the event that will be held on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception on Dec. 8. “The rosary is the simplest kind of prayer and it is the most portable kind of prayer,” said Dominican priest Gerard Francisco Timoner III, the university’s vice rector for religious affairs. Participants who will represent the “Hail Mary” beads of the rosary will be wearing yellow shirts, while those assigned the “Our Father” beads, the Cross, and the center medal will wear blue shirts.
