This place rocks my bunny slippers off! They always have amazing and unique things in there. Clothing is great… lots of womens clothing, but they also have great shirts for guys. Tons and tons of accessories all made by local artists… The back of the store is an art gallery where the owner is always having new artists show… it’s worth taking a peak at.To top it off the owners dalmation runs around the store.. super friendly dog.. made me feel lovedIf you need to buy someone a gift.. go here… they’ll love it… tutu for a baby… guitar strap… funky hat…. painting…. not like people buy art anymore… but they should!!!!
A cute store! The friend who took us there described it as an “Etsy store,” which is a pretty good description — it’s a large, spacious store crammed full of jewelry, soaps, handbags, art, belts & wallets, T-shirts, and gifty items. There’s a lot to see, and a wide variety of items, including a fair amount of stuff for guys (lots of neat screen-printed tees and art). Some of it is expensive, but lots of it is affordably priced, like the lotion and bath products and the upcycled jewelry. I liked the die-cut plastic cityscape necklaces with skylines of London, Paris, Sydney, etc. The back of the store has a sale table, and behind that is a small gallery with original art and reasonably priced prints.I wish I’d had more time to look at all the stuff they have, and look forward to visiting again next time I’m in town!
Friend’s birthday coming up who is SUPER FREAKING hard to shop for? CO-OP 28! Need some adorable art for your new place? CO-OP 28! Want to support local LA artists? CO-OP 28! Want to pet a really cute dalmatian named Pretzel? CO-OP 28!!!!!! Need I say more?
You have to see this awesome store! Looking for a great gift? or just a little splurge on yourself? This IS the place. There is something for everyone and you are supporting local artists. Don’t buy that crap from China that most stores are selling. Buy from this great local treasure. The owner, Marci, and her sweet dog, Pretzel will treat you like family. My son is in love with that dalmatian. There is a lot to see there, so allow time to browse it all. Have fun and Happy Shopping! Go Co-op 28!!
Being within walking distance of shops like this one are why I love my neighborhood-there’s always the chance to discover that something I didn’t know I couldn’t live without. I’ve stopped in a couple of times since it opened and it keeps getting better; making it a reliable go-to whether I’m shopping for a friend, my mom, my boyfriend, or that awkward person you don’t really know all that well but who bought you a gift for Christmas, so you’re now obligated to return the favor. Sometimes shops with that type of variety can result in a watered down version of themselves, but while this one leans more towards homespun than cutting edge (the only reason I docked the one star), it also manages to cater to a variety of styles while maintaining a distinctive voice of its own. I love their jewelry section, especially the slabs of druzy stones inset in rose gold rings and the leather cuffs that would round out an armful of bangles quite nicely. The t-shirts are also stellar, without relying on those once-ironic but now trite sayings that so many annoying ones now do. Thankfully, the prices are also myriad, allowing peeps from every budget to walk out with a trinket or two. The gal that owns the store is incredibly friendly and helpful, but not overbearing, and shopping with the house dalmation Pretzel running around makes any experience more fun!
It’s hard to walk past Co-op 28 and not walk in. They have a ton of great products that range from coasters & bicycle bells to jewelry (fo tha ladiez) and original artwork (mostly by local artists)!Ideal for gift-giving or just treating yourself…or even just popping in to see what new items they have (which happens a lot). The staff is friendly and remembers frequent visitors, though their best employee is Pretzel, the Dalmatian (just as good at selling crafts & clothing as they are at helping put out fires). Also, they CAN arrange for custom orders from certain artists. I had one guy who sells there make me a special clock for my brother’s birthday. He went bananas for it!So yeah, check it out and support independent stores!!!
Not only is Co-op 28 Handmade one badass space for the holidays, there’s a ton of killer loot, too Sterling Silver Jewelry! There’s a large gallery space in the back for local artists to display their pice de rsistances (with Marci’s permission, of course), a rack of adorable dress tutus (the LBD just got tulled!), graphic tees for men, jewelry up the wazoo (my favorite were these kooky earrings – think small California shapes with a heart where LA is, boomboxes, cameras, animals, etc. – that were packaged in a miniature glass bottle with a cork (a la message in a bottle style) that were less than $20, as well as some sapphire stone numbers. And I somehow spent over $50 on cards. Yes, cards. Cards with obscenities, cartoons doing and saying funny things, etc. I’m a sucker for a good card.Definitely make Co-op 28 a stop on your holiday, gift giving, or self indulging crusades. I mean, if you aren’t shopping locally Sterling Silver Necklaces, then you aren’t shopping wisely.
Came here not knowing what to expect and fell in love with EVERYTHING!They have anything from jewerly, graphic tees, belt buckes, hand mad earrings, hats, posters, artwork, etc! I absolutely had a great time just taking a look at everything.I want to say I was impressed their selection of products. It really shows that buyer put a lot of thought into what was purchased. Many of the items… or i think most items are handmade. Great extra… they have old school candy and made it like an open candy buffet to catch the customer’s attention. CUTE! There is also a large gallery in the back to displaying works of local artists.
It’s been 2 months since my last review and it’s my 99th review on Yelp…and Co-Op 28 deserves all the praise!Super cute small business that supports small businesses! Co-op 28 is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. The workers are really kind and helpful and the selection of items is unique and absolutely wonderful. It’s like Etsy embodied/encompassed in a wonderful little shop. I’ve coveted many of the necklaces they have for sale, and I will be back for gifts for friends Sterling Silver Bangles! Yay Co-op 28! ![]()
Co-op 28 is super rad . ?As a new artist to Los Angeles, I was thrilled by how Marci and Paul, curator of her gallery welcomed me with open arms. ?Its a great place to exhibit work if you are an artist, plus, the merchandise in the shop is always different because they are always picking up new independent designers. ?I would recommend stopping here for the clothes, the jewelry and to ?see some dynamic art. ?Its a great place.
I stumbled across this place yesterday and LOVED it.So many great things under one roof – saucy hostess aprons, moustache pillows, cats w/ moustaches t-shirts( i thought I was in heaven.) great accoutrements for biking enthusiasts – fun bells and reversible hats with earflaps. Also great jewelry, leather masks. And the owner was wonderfully helpful and delightful.A side note Bill Murray was there doing some shopping too – he picked up some groovy t-shirts and mini wallets made from maps.If Bill shops there you know it is a cool place.I recommend that everyone do their holiday shopping there. Support the 99%!
Nice place for gift shopping. ?Not high end but very cute and fashionable items. ?The owner is very personable and helpful.
Co-op 28 is quite possibly the coolest boutique in Los Feliz. Located right next to the brand new Danish ice cream place Paradis, this shop looks small from the outside but goes deep. Filled with artisan handmade goods by local artists and designers, this is a great place to browse for those times when you want to treat yourself or a friend to something nice. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes to shop on Etsy. ?Their selections are amazing. They carry great clothes, jewelry, stationary, accessories, and even home decor at decent prices. Locally designed and screen printed graphic tees for men, women, and children have great designs and are only $20 for a very soft, better than American Apparel-y feel. I fell in love with the (adjustable) typewriter key jewelry and their other selection of refurbished accessories and they’ve also got great trinkets for those who like to collect. There was a cardboard eggshell carton with egg shaped soy candles that was just way too cute. The woman behind the counter was very friendly and their resident Dalmatian, Pretzel, was one heck of a sales person. This is definitely a place to check out. Great for gifts, too!
After a night of stuffing myself at Palermos and then shoveling some ice cream into my tum my date and I decided to check out Co-op 28 Handmade. The store is very cute with tons of different items, a lot of them being very original. My date bought me a notebook with a design I really liked. The only problem is that it cost $8 for a simple college rule, mead type of notebook with 100 pages in it. I really like the drawings on the front, but wouldn’t spend over $3 if I was buying it myself. That is the major drawback with this store, the pricing. Maybe it is because I use to live in the Bay area or because my sister makes trinkets and trades with people online, that I had total sticker shock. Great stuff, super pricey. I will return to browse, wouldn’t mind people buying me gifts from here, but I wouldn’t purchase myself.
Love this neighborhood store! It’s filled with all sorts of fabulous creations from local artists at reasonable price points. Lots of wonderful jewelry, clothes, household items, soaps and lotions — and a great selection of old-fashioned candies like Bit O’Honey, Mary Janes and Bazooka.
This shop is new and very cool! ?The creations are very unique and really special. ?The price point is a little high for some but if you’re looking for a special gift, this is the place- one of a kind items that are unforgettable. ?The owner is really cool and friendly, you will love going here!
Darling little place that sells a smorgasbord of items. Candles, t shirts, jewelery, and stuff for your furry friends. The great thing about this place is that the owner stocks items from local artists.Sweet addition to the village!
OH. MY. GOD. I am in love with this store. It radiates warm and fuzzy magic. The owner is the sweetest lady who approaches everyone to ask if they need help or have questions. I found the cutest miniature white elephant earrings and a black octopus shirt for $20. I will be back!!
Cute concept, however the boutique occupying this space before was far superior. Shame to see it go. This new store was full of cheaply made knick knacks and overly shiny (and very juvenile looking) jewelry. In a city like LA, full of vintage and consignment gems, this store can and definitely should be overlooked. Definitely not worth your time.
The owner is extremely rude and later blames it on having a long week. Don’t bother with this place.
If you have ever been to Handmade in the valley this is similar. All the items in the store are made by various local artists. From bags made from recycled items or one of a kind dresses or jewelry or Dr. Suss books made into clocks! One of kind items at a price your wallet can afford! Marci and her staff are friendly and will help you with anything you need. Of course they have a facebook page! Make sure you stop next door to get the best homemade ice cream at Paradis!
First off, there are quite a few cool items for guys in this place as well. Second, the woman at the counter was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about her artists/craftsmen. Third, and honestly this was a really nice surprise, everything in the store is VERY reasonable price wise. You can buy your girlfriend a nice little gift, tell her its from a “boutique in Los Feliz”, she’ll be happy, you’ll be happy, and you can spend the money you saved playing an extra hockey pick-up this month (that is what I would do with it, you can make your own choice).
I came here for the Yelp event, mostly because I’m a big believer in shopping locally whenever possible. ?I don’t usually frequent this stretch of Vermont because traffic and searching for a parking space can make me a little nutty, but I’m so glad to have been introduced to this shop (and I found a parking space easily, partly due to the insane winds that hit SoCal that night). ?Usually the Los Feliz/Silver Lake area has a ton of places with kitschy stuff, but the shops are sort of interchangeable in that respect – they all have the same kitsch. ?But Co-op 28 has lots of original handmade things that you don’t see anywhere else in the area. ?I was not in the market for big ticket items. ?I was just looking for Christmas gifts for family and friends, and I found a bunch. ?I don’t think I spent more than $12 on any single item, but somehow I spent well over $100, with a lot of great stuff to show for it. ?Friendly and helpful people working there, too. ?I’ll be back for sure.
The owner, Marci, is the best and is extremely friendly. You feel like she’s welcoming you into her home when you walk in the store, complete with the adorable mascot dalmation, Pretzel. And what a home! Soaps, pillows, jewelry, vintage art and posters… even though there is a lot of merchandise, it’s very well laid out so it doesn’t feel crowded. Plus, the concept of supporting independent designers rather than mass manufacturers is great. Definitely a place to check out in Los Feliz.
From the moment I walked into Co-op 28 my head was just spinning with all the cool items on display. ?I came in looking for some unique gifts for friends and found exactly what I was looking for and a little something extra for myself! ?Marci, the owner, was super sweet and helpful. ?She really took her time to help me find the perfect gifts. ?Thank you, Marci! ?I will definitely be back and will be raving about Co-op 28 to my friends.
This is just the sort of store this neighborhood needs. Lots of incredibly cool, amazing, handmade items. A super chill Dalmatian for a mascot. And a friendly, approachable owner who knows a thing or two about a thing or two. There’s something for everyone in this place. Whether you’re looking for that perfect gift for a dear friend or a little something special for yourself, you’re bound to find it here. I stop in at least once a week to see what’s new. Very cool.
Cute store full of one of a kind artisan goods!
A ?perfect addition to Vermont Ave in Los Feliz. ?Every item in this shop is extremely eclectic and cool, and best of all, made by local artists. ?For gift ideas, decoration, accessories, whatever, this place absolutely deserves your time and business. ?I will be a multiple repeat customer!
This is the most amazing shop, a perfect place to buy a special gift. I fell in love with so many items. They sell all handmade, one-of-a-kind jewelry, womens’, children, and men’s fashion, dog accessories, cards, art work…a little bit of everything! The owner was very sweet and friendly, I can’t wait to go back.
this place has all kinds of things you need (and don’t need, but want) at price ranges for everyone! the owner, marci, is very friendly and wants to help you find the right fit or item that you are looking for. there’s jewelry, clothing, watches, dog toys and clothing, great gifts and more! the inventory is always changing, as everything is independently made! very cool! if you are put off by a helpful attendent, just let her know you are browsing or you might get annoyed and just leave. i think she is fabulous and look forward to going back and saying hello to her dog, pretzel!
